The Egyptian Aviation Academy (EAA) has received two Cessna 172R training aircraft following upgrades carried out by the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) at a domestic EAF Engineering Branch facility.

An EAF spokesperson said the programme reflects efforts to reduce reliance on foreign maintenance services and limit foreign currency expenditure. It is unclear whether additional aircraft in the EAA fleet will be modernised.

The aircraft will support pilot training at EAA's Misr Flying College, operating from 6th October Airport, with additional activity at El-Tor and Asyut Airports. The EAA operates under Egypt's Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The academy's 24-aircraft fleet includes 20 Cessna 172R, two Beechcraft Baron G58s used for multi-engine training, and two Beechcraft Bonanza G36s for single-engine training. The academy also operates three Flight Training Devices.
