Under a new partnership, BAA Training will prepare pilots to fill vacancies at Avion Express, an airline headquartered in Vilnius with an expanding fleet of Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft.
An initial pilot training programme for people with little to no flying experience is being launched to meet the constantly growing demand for new pilots at the company. After passing a multistage selection process and successfully completing an ATPL (frozen) course, pilots will secure a flying job at Avion Express.
Gardar Forberg, CEO of Avion Express, commented, “This programme is a great opportunity for young people seeking to begin a career in aviation and become co-pilots on our fleet of Airbus aircraft. Moreover, it puts candidates on a direct path to a long-term tenure in our company with a view to becoming captains.”
“In our experience, airline involvement in the preparation of pilots is a mutually beneficial alliance which complements pilot training with specific skills and qualifications arising from certain business needs,” explained Egle Vaitkeviciute, CEO of BAA Training. “This gradually increases the quality of pilot training.”
Avion Express is the largest airline in Lithuania and, currently operating 16 Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft, is the largest narrow body wet-lease operator in the world.
