Work on The Emirates Flight Training Academy will start in early 2013 ahead of a targeted 2014 launch. The AED500 million centre, located at Dubai World Central Airport, will showcase the industry's most advanced pilot training and be the centre for the Emirates National Cadet Pilot Programme, training up to 400 students at a time.
Emirates has engaged the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on approval for course syllabus authorities and the airside operations, such as the control tower and runway, will be managed by Dubai Airports and support the Academy.
