Airways New Zealand and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to improve capabilities in air traffic management.
The MOU will pave the way for enhanced cooperation in a number of areas of air traffic management (ATM) and air navigation services (ANS). These include the exchange of information and expertise, professional development and collaboration on research.
Airways CEO Ed Sims said the MOU demonstrates the importance of closer Asia Pacific collaboration. "Asia Pacific is facing a period of unprecedented growth with demand for highly skilled aviation professionals only set to grow. Airways New Zealand is delighted to share its expertise in aviation training with CAAS."
CAAS Director-General Kevin Shum commented: "Given the cross-border nature of ATM, both Airways and CAAS recognise the significance of cooperation to advance regional ATM capabilities. We are excited by this collaboration which will go beyond hardware and process enhancements to enhance the development of aviation professionals. This partnership between two of the leading air navigation service providers in the Asia Pacific region will bolster our capabilities to manage the complexities of increasing air traffic more safely and efficiently."
