KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has ordered a cabin fire and smoke trainer with Flame Aviation from the Netherlands. The fire trainer will be installed inside KLM’s new crew training center at Schiphol-Oost.

The new training center is currently under construction and the fire trainer will be installed in the third quarter of 2018. Until that time, Flame Aviation makes available for KLM a V9000 Commander™ Cabin Fire + Smoke Trainer. This fire trainer will temporarily be installed outside of KLM’s current crew training center at Schiphol Airport.

The new fire trainer has extensive capabilities to train for lithium-ion battery fires and is equipped with fully automatic fires, glowing spots, smoke functionalities and multiple high-speed extinghuisher refilling stations. Flame Aviation’s latest instructor interface enables KLM to closely monitor the trainee’s performance and offers extensive possibilities to customize the training to KLM’s standards.

“We have followed the developments at Flame Aviation over the last two years intensively and are impressed with the fire trainers Flame currently builds and delivers” said Richard van den Nouweland, project manager for the new training center. “We are extremely proud to add KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to the rapidly growing list of reputable airlines using our fire trainers” said Robin Pijnaker, managing director of Flame Aviation.
