Three pioneers of the global aviation training community were recognised at the annual meeting of airline, regulatory and industry training experts, WATS 2017 (World Airline Training Summit).
Awarded by CAT magazine, the three individuals received the first 'CAT Pioneer' awards and will have subsequent awards named for them as part of an annual process designed to recognize those who have made a significant difference, and improvement to aviation training in the modern era.
The establishment of these awards is driven by the need to raise the profile of the civil aviation training community, populated by highly skilled and dedicated professionals. For decades this community has been fundamental to the extraordinary safety record of global commercial aviation.
This year's Pioneer Awards were presented to Mr. Rudy Frasca, Captain Dieter Harms and Captain Al Ueltschi.
The awards notation is 'in recognition of his achievements in airline training and contribution to global airline safety'.
