In response to customer demand, Avsoft has released a new general subjects course for pilots in relation to Automatic Dependent Surveillance- Broadcast (ADS-B) surveillance technology.
Avsoft’s new ADS-B course explores the important concepts, definitions, limitations, components, and procedures related to ADS-B surveillance technology. Topics discussed include system descriptions of ADS-B Out, ADS-B In, ADS-R, TIS-B, and FIS-B; flight planning; operating procedures; emergency codes; phraseology; and human factors.
This course is designed to comply with EASA, FAA, ICAO, and Transport Canada regulations to provide pilots with about one hour of initial training. Customers have the option of customising the course to be suitable for recurrent training. The course concludes with a test, and when this test is successfully completed, a certificate of completion is generated.
ADS-B is a requirement for both the FAA’s NextGen Initiative and Eurocontrol’s Single European Sky Initiative.
The FAA has ruled that after 1 January 2020, all aircraft operating in Class A airspace must have ADS-B equipment installed.
Eurocontrol has ruled that all aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of over 5,700kg or a maximum cruise capability over 250 knots must be equipped with ADS-B by 7 June 2020.
Avsoft has also recently released a course on Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT).
