16 airline pilots, 15 of whom partnered with easyJet and one who partnered with Virgin Atlantic, graduated with BSc (Hons) Professional Aviation Pilot Practice degrees, thanks to a partnership between the airlines, L3 Commercial Training Solutions and Middlesex University London.

The easyJet graduates represent the second group of easyJet pilots in the UK to graduate with this unique degree and are the first students on the MPL route to achieve their licence alongside the degree.

Professor Tim Blackman, Vice-Chancellor at Middlesex University London said: "I'm very proud of all our pilots whose graduation is the result of a lot of personal effort and commitment to the aviation industry, an industry that needs graduates of this calibre to meet ever increasing skills needs.

"This was possible thanks to our excellent partnerships with organisations such as L3, Helicentre Aviation, easyJet and Virgin Atlantic, who, like Middlesex University, are responding to the increasing need to combine work with practice-based learning and to diversify the workforce. I have no doubt that all of today's graduates will go on to have fulfilling and successful careers."

The BSc (Hons) degree in Professional Aviation Pilot Practice is awarded by Middlesex University and is the only provider in the world to offer this degree. It has also been specially adapted for helicopter pilots and delivered in partnership with airlines easyJet and Virgin Atlantic, along with respective training providers L3 Commercial Training Solutions and Helicentre Aviation. The practice-based course does not require pilots to attend a campus and enables them to gain professional qualifications (CPCH, ATPL or MP licence respectively), and a degree within three years.
