L3 Commercial Aviation announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TAP Air Portugal, increasing cooperation between the companies to provide employment opportunities for L3 cadets and to provide Type Rating training for the airline’s new pilots.
“We are delighted to be working more closely with TAP Air Portugal,” commented Mário Spinola, L3 Airline Academy Director, Europe. “The agreement allows us to offer more job opportunities for our cadets with this leading airline while supporting TAP’s growth by providing world-class initial Type Rating training for their new pilots.”
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of TAP Air Portugal, added, “As a rapidly growing airline, securing a pipeline of high-quality, well-trained new pilots couldn’t be more important. This partnership will enable us to have access to best-in-class pilots, helping to maintain our high standards across the airline as we continue to grow.”
As part of the relationship, cadets currently enrolled in training at L3 Airline Academy, as well as qualifying graduates, will have potential employment pathways with TAP Air Portugal. TAP will also select L3 as their supplier for A320 Type Rating training for their new pilots. Type Rating training has started this month in November and will take place in L3’s training centers in Southampton and Gatwick in the U.K.
