L3 Commercial Aviation announced its first contract with Loong Air to deliver a significant order of three A320 Full Flight Simulators and two A320 Flat Panel Trainers to the airline within the next three years.

The first Full Flight Simulator is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2019, and all devices will be installed on-site at the Loong Air facility in Hangzhou, China, by 2021. The equipment will help establish the creation of Loong Air’s first training center.

As L3’s training device technology continues to advance, it allows flight training to be offloaded from full flight devices to fixed training devices. Such offloading will help provide effective training at a lower cost for Loong Air.

“We are delighted to have been selected by Loong Air for the first time to deliver our world-class pilot training devices to the airline. This is a significant order for Loong Air during an exciting period of growth for its business,” said Robin Glover-Faure, President of Commercial Training Solutions, which is part of L3 Commercial Aviation. “Our manufacturing and delivery of these state-of-the-art training devices will support the airline’s impressive operations and help to develop its own pilot training capabilities.”

Dang Jianping, vice president of Maintenance & Engineering at Loong Air, commented: “As a rapidly growing airline, we are delighted that we will shortly be launching our own training center. The devices and support provided by L3 will be instrumental in allowing us to open the center and to deliver the training to our pilots for the first time.”
