one-G simulation welcomed two new flight schools, The Flying School and Mike Smith Aviation, into the one-G Access Program. This program provides qualifying schools the FAA approved Foundation and Foundation 1000 Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATDs), based on the Cessna 172 and Cessna 172 G1000, including an integrated suite of flight training tools on a pay-per-use basis.

The Flying School, located in Loveland, Colorado, atNorthern Colorado Regional Airport (KFNL), chose the model-specific FoundationAATD based on the Cessna 172, matching their aircraft fleet. This provides ahigh positive transfer of learning, allowing the school to stay true to theircommitment of providing excellent and personalized flight training.

Mike Smith Aviation, located in Rancho Murieta, California,at the Rancho Murieta Airport (KRIU), was started by a husband and wife team in2016 with one airplane and just three years later has expanded by adding asecond location. The school uses the Access program to integrate flightsimulation with its flight training curriculum. Kimberly Sanders Smith, CFI andco-owner, said, “The Foundation has been an essential tool that has acceleratedour students’ learning and understanding of flying.”

Dave Rider, one-G vice president says, “The successfulschools view the flight sim in the same way they view the airplane: as atraining device and a revenue generator. It serves as a productive classroom, free from the distractions and safety concerns of an aircraft, where return oninvestment can be maximized for both the student and the flight school.”
