Ryanair visited Airways AviationAcademy’s headquarters in London Oxford Airport, United Kingdom, on Friday 7thof June 2019. Two members of the recruitment team, Colm Judge and AmieLatchford, as well as First Officer (FO) Maria Petterssen visited the school toinform the students about the new type rating programme offered by the airline.

The air carrier representativesarrived in the morning and had an informal meet with the students in the loungearea followed by a presentation in the classroom that was modified for the day.Petterssen shared her experience as an FO in Ryanair. After which, therecruiters presented the benefits, requirements and application procedure ofthe type rating programme. A Q&A session left the Ryanair representatives quiteamazed. The day ended with a tour around the facility and students met with theAirways Aviation team.

The attendants included Airwaysstudents from the ground school and flying phase, as well as recent graduatesof the academy. Students had been waiting for this day and now, said a student,“feel more confident in applying to Ryanair type rating programme.”

The event was part of thesupport Airways Aviation offers to its students from day one until they getemployed. The academy has now put in place a new schedule in order to meet theneeds of today’s market. This group of activities aim at introducing students tovarious pilots and gradually getting them in touch with airlines and therequirements of global employers. Ryanair’s visit supported that goal andstudents in the beginning of their training learned more about the life of apilot, while cadets that have reached the application process stage found thatthe assessment details were a useful guide.
