The fifth group of airBaltic Pilot Academy students have begun their two-year, full-time course.

Thirteen students have signed up for training with the Latvian airline.

"We are proud that this is already the fifth group of students at the Latvian airline’s Pilot Academyand this is a second group with two female students," said Pauls Cālītis, airBaltic SVP Flight Operations.

"We have worked hard to offer opportunities for students to benefit greatly while learning from the first-hand experience of our professional instructors."

Pilot Academy have a fully equipped hangar under construction at Liepaja International Airport. They have also completed an additional order of Diamond Aircraft to support its training capabilities, Cālītis said.

The first group of Pilot Academy students will graduate in October and join the airline as pilots. Another intake will begin their studies in November.
