Frasca International Inc. has received Australian CivilAviation Safety Authority (CASA) approval on their RTD (Reconfigurable TrainingDevice) as a category B synthetic trainer. Three FRASCA RTDs have beendelivered to CAE for use at CAE Melbourne and CAE Tamworth training facilitiesin Australia. The three RTDs are reconfigurable between the Cessna 172 andPiper Seminole, all with G1000 NXi Avionics and feature a three-channel visualsystem.
The first Frasca RTDs installed at CAE by Aviation SimulatorTechnology received CASA certification in July 2019.
The Frasca RTD is easily reconfigurable between differentaircraft models and between legacy analog and modern Garmin G1000 NXi glassavionics. It is built using robust hardware for reliability and features abrowser-based Instructor Operator Station (IOS), which can be controlled byphone, tablet or desktop computer. The RTD can be configured with a single orthree-channel visual display system and includes digital sound simulation.
Frasca's RTD provides a high level of realism that enablesthe students to transfer a greater amount of learning from the AATD to theaircraft. Frasca's aerodynamic models have been validated by the FAA on higherlevel full-flight simulators and include physical modelling of all significantcomponents and effects of the aircraft class.
