Innoactive, AeroGround Flughafen München and Fraport AG have collaborated to provide an open platform for VR training at airports from around the world.
The innovative open platform enables access to VR aviation training modules based on highest operational standards and best-practices, Innoactive said.
It gives trainers the power to illustrate theoretical concepts instantly, regardless of weather, aircraft availability and other tedious clearance processes. In addition, trainees experience exceptional situations caused by hazards without exposing them to any risks.
Innoactive’s role is tech enabler; from scaling the content creation, to enabling the actual consumption on both software and hardware levels. Therefore helping airports, ground handling and airlines integrate and scale VR training.
"Our platform is designed to empower the trainer," said Daniel Seidl, CEO of Innoactive. "They are the ones facing the challenges of preparing the workforce and it’s them needing a new medium to transfer their know-how to the trainees."
On-the-job ground handling involves dangerous scenarios, lengthy security checks before starting and expensive and often unavailable equipment.
However, VR made training "more efficient" and improve the quality, said Christoph Blickhan, Fraport’s Project manager of logistics and IT-Management.
