TAP Air Portugal have purchased a V9000 Commander™ Next-Generation fire trainer from Flame Aviation.

The  simulator, which will be located outside at the TAP headquarters near Lisbon Airport, will be equipped with a large observation area to allow up to 25 trainees to follow proceedings.

"TAP Air Portugal has the equipment in house to meet all upcoming regulatory and training requirements for the next decade," Robin Pijnaker, managing director of Flame Aviation said.

Capt. Mário Bento, Flight Operations Training Director at TAP, said the trainer provided the most realistic environment.

"With this equipment, we will be able to raise the quality of our firefighting training to higher standards in accordance with our philosophy of safety first," he said.

TAP is the country’s flag carrier, operating over 100 aircraft and flying 16 million passengers to more than 100 destinations.
