Pitch Technologies has released a plug-in and development software called Pitch Unreal Engine Connector, which connects the Unreal Engine with High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) simulation interoperability standards.
The Linkoping-based provider of standards-based interoperability products and services for training and simulation says that with these new products, Epic Games' industry-leading Unreal Engine technology will be able to work together with aerospace and defence simulation and training systems, aiding in the delivery of more open, distributed, high performing, scalable and secure solutions.
Customers in the simulation industry using Pitch’s Unreal Engine Connector will be able to seamlessly integrate current and future simulations with cutting-edge game technology using open standards such as HLA and DIS. Military commanders viewing a tactical picture of battle and astronauts and pilots training in simulators with highly detailed 3D out-the-window scenes visualized and rendered in Unreal are some of the sample applications for the plug-in.
Björn Möller, President of Pitch said, “Pitch has a leading position in the open-standards-based simulation community and a wide range of products that synergize with Unreal Engine. Our latest suite of tools will greatly assist game developers as they collaborate with their counterparts in the simulation community. The power of Unreal Engine, combined with high end distributed simulations, will be a stepping-stone for innovation, where the bigger picture can be simulated and interacted with in VR, AR and MR in previously unseen applications."
Unreal developers will now be able to effortlessly integrate with the open-standards-based modeling and simulation ecosystem as a result of the new plug-in opening new opportunities.
“We have developed a powerful plugin for the unreal game engine, it is based on open simulation standards, you can easily integrate new and existing simulations with the unreal engine, the result combines the best of two worlds,” said Boris Pathier, Project Manager at Pitch Technologies. “The plugin is very robust and scalable and connects to a proven and secure infrastructure.”
While the highly flexible Pitch Unreal Engine Connector SDK is targeted at high-end solutions, a free, downloadable Pitch Unreal Engine Connector Free plugin is also available on the Unreal Marketplace.
Pitch Technologies has been supported in the development of the software via Epic MegaGrants, a $100 million program from Epic Games. Epic MegaGrants is a global initiative aimed at hastening the work of teams and individuals working with Unreal Engine, 3D graphics tools, and open-source software.
Pitch Technologies is owned by BAE Systems with offices in Sweden, France, UK and USA. It has aerospace and defence customers in 38 countries.
