ATPL graduates from Skyborne Airline Academy have been hard at work this month, undertaking the first part of their Skills Continuation Training (SCT). The initiative was announced by Skyborne in March 2020 in response to Covid-19 and offers support to graduates in the period between qualifying and securing airline placement to prevent skill fade.
SCT provides students with continuous support and mentoring by experienced flight instructors. It includes two hours of instructor-led training every three months in the school’s DA42 simulator.
Skyborne will also cover the cost and complete graduates’ first Instrument Rating (IR) revalidation. Additionally Skyborne will provide selection. Upon the selection of a partner airline, Skyborne will provide the graduate with preparation training, which includes two hours flight instruction in the B737 MAX simulator.
The first SCT session involved gentle re-familiarisation with the aircraft and its systems, starting with Visual General Handling, Stalls and Limited Panel (restricted instruments) and Unusual Attitude Recoveries.
