Leading Edge Aviation is adding another DA42 Simulator to their fleet. The sim has been manufactured and installed by Diamond and compliments their growing fleet of Diamond Aircraft and existing DA42 and A320 simulators. The device forms an important part of their Multi-Engine phase of training and is based at their dedicated sim centre, Hangar 18, next door to their Oxford Airport base.
Leading Edge Aviation’s Chief Operating Officer, Dave Alexander: “As Leading Edge Aviation grows, we want to continue to offer our student pilots the most advanced training possible. The DA42 simulator from Diamond will enable us to support our students not only with the best technology, but also in a timely manner. As we continue to expand, it’s important that we also increase our training capacity. The simulator compliments our growing fleet of Diamond aircraft, ensuring continuity of training for our students as they begin training on the single-engine DA40 before moving to the multi-engine DA42 aircraft and simulator, all using the Garmin G1000 NXi integrated flight deck. “
In addition to the new flight sim, Leading Edge has also expanded their aircraft fleet and now operate nine DA40s and four DA42s in addition to their Slingsby T67 Firefly.
Recently, Leading Edge Aviation hosted a visit from Robert Courts, MP for Witney & West Oxfordshire to show their expanding academy including their fleet of flight simulators.
Online training needs well-conceived implementation strategies and tactics, as interaction among trainees and trainer changes significantly from the traditional learning environment. Read more in Pivoting to Virtual Classrooms.
As an employer with growing numbers of staff and students, Leading Edge continues to thrive despite the challenges that face the aviation industry through the Covid-19 pandemic. By continuing to invest in technology and new learning platforms, they’ve been able to continue training whilst many other organisations have struggled. Looking to the future, they look forward to introducing further new facilities over the coming months.
