Star Wings has received EASA CS-FSTD Issue 2 qualification from the German LBA authority based on the UPRT upgrade implemented by International Development of Technology (IDT). Built by TRU Simulation + Training in 2015, it is the only qualified CJ3 device in Europe. All UPRT training, including approach-to-stall, can now be conducted in the device.
Modifications include the IDT UPRight IOS system, which provides feedback of all flight variables in real time. IDT was involved in the specification of the interfaces, design of the display and qualification support. Physical integration was conducted by Star Wings.
“We will now be able to offer an enhanced training package that includes the most challenging parts of the flight envelope”, said Jochen Popp, CEO of Star Wings. “For our own crews, as well as third parties leasing our training device, this will enhance the safety of pilot training.”
Dr. Sunjoo Advani, President of IDT, commented: “Seeing that loss-of-control remains a major concern in both commercial as well as business aviation heightens the importance of providing top-notch solutions.”
Located at Dortmund Airport, Star Wings mbH operates a fleet of Cessna Citation CJ1, CJ2+, Embraer Phenom, and Super King Air B200, Super King Air 350 turboprop airplanes for executive and charter applications. The company also provides aircraft management services, as well as complete training programs up to Type Ratings on the CJ Series.
IDT, Breda, the Netherlands, provides training services to several major airlines and training centres.
