For the seventh year in a row, Women in Aviation International received a $12,500 grant from The International Society of Transport Aircraft Training (ISTAT) Foundation, which funds educational programs that advance commercial aviation.

As in past years, this grant will be used to expand the distribution of Aviation for Girls magazine with The ISTAT Foundation identified as the sponsor of this year’s issue. The 2021 issue of Aviation for Girls will be available digitally to all Women in Aviation International members and any interested individuals. Aviation for Girls will also be polybagged with the September/October issue of Aviation for Women so that all WAI members have a copy of the magazine to pass along to a daughter, granddaughter, niece, neighbor, or other girl in their lives.

Through this yearly magazine, girls ages 8 to 17 are introduced to careers in aviation and aerospace. Aviation for Girls is an integral part of Girls in Aviation Day. The print version of Aviation for Girls will be provided to thousands of kids enrolled for the new Aviation for Girls App, and all seven issues of the magazine will be available digitally on the Aviation for Girls App.

"The ISTAT Foundation’s support of Aviation for Girls as well as our Girls in Aviation Day events puts all the excitement of aviation in the hands of kids all around the world. With interesting and informative content crafted for all age groups, girls can see opportunities that they may never have considered,” says WAI CEO Allison McKay.

WAI chapters, members, and supporters will celebrate Girls in Aviation Day on September 25, 2021, during in-person or virtual events as local health guidance allows.
