L3Harris Technologies is reinstating partial tuition reimbursement for prospective first officers in the SkyWest Airlines Pilot Pathway Program. As part of the reinstatement, qualifying cadets will be able to claim up to USD $15,000 in tuition reimbursement from SkyWest Airlines.
The partnership between L3Harris and SkyWest Airlines aims to provide a direct path for pilots to launch their commercial pilot career. In addition to access to up to $15,000 in tuition reimbursement, L3 Harris students in SkyWest’s Pilot Pathway Program have the opportunity to receive enhanced seniority, access to pilot mentors, and a guaranteed final first officer interview with SkyWest – all while staying on campus.
Under FAA regulations, commercial pilots must have 1,500 recorded flight hours, which many L3Harris cadets achieve by becoming Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) at its US Flight Academy, based in Sanford, Florida. SkyWest representatives visit L3Harris’ Flight Academy to speak with cadets and CFIs to assess their capabilities and offer suitable candidates a place in the SkyWest Airlines Pilot Pathway Program. Currently, there are no flight hour requirements for L3Harris students to join the SkyWest Pilot Pathway Program, and no commitment unless you utlize the tuitition reimbursement.
David Coward, VP and General Manager of Airline Academy at L3Harris Tecnololgies commented: “This program shows confidence in the commercial airline industry’s recovery, and we’re here to help more cadets follow their dreams to become commercial pilots.”
