Quantum3D is now offering affordable Mixed Reality Image Generation (MR IG) Visual Systems to its commercial and military customers.
With this new system, Varjo XR-3 eye-limiting resolution headsets are integrated with Quantum3D’s Independence IDX image generator and MANTIS image generation software.
Quantum3D’s MR IG visual system eliminates the need for multi-channel dome display systems while maintaining full 360-degree visuals for the trainee pilot. This can substantially reduce the physical footprint of the simulator, the initial purchase cost, and ongoing maintenance costs.
With the hi-res camera passthrough capability of the Varjo XR-3 headset, MANTIS provides the capability to create MR solutions whereby a masked region defines where the real world is visible. This is typically used to allow a real-world cockpit mockup to be used interactively by the pilot. The capability for the trainee to see both their own hands and the real cockpit eliminates the problem encountered in pure VR systems in which the trainee is unable to coordinate interaction with real world controls.
Quantum3D’s MANTIS software supports using two GPU’s combined with NVIDIA’s VR SLI technology to render the scene for both eyes in parallel, which allows more complex and higher quality environments to be generated while maintaining a consistent 90fps update rate, which is required to avoid stutters when the eye location is moving.
The system will be exhibited at I/ITSEC 2021 in Orlando, the world’s largest modeling, simulation, and training event, as a part of Quantum3D’s Cessna 172 Aircraft Simulator. Quantum3D’s new immersive technology can be integrated with all kinds of military and civilian aircrafts in the market.
