Newly updated simulator will be moved to university's new Manchester Engineering Campus building
The new Matlab interface will help enable more efficient teaching
Merlin Flight Simulation Group will be upgrading the MP521 motion simulator at The University of Manchester, England, with the latest Diamond Visionics Genesis visual graphics, and the Merlin S’Fun Matlab interface software.
Dr. Nicholas Bodjo from The University of Manchester said: “The installation of real-world visuals and 3D viewer will greatly enhance the realism of the simulated environment, which not only benefits the user experience, but will give our facility the ‘wow’ factor in its new home, centre stage in the brand-new Manchester Engineering Campus building. Meanwhile, the Matlab interface will enable near real-time flight dynamics data processing for more efficient teaching and will provide our award-winning Flight Simulation Society another tool in their IT FLIES competition arsenal.”
