  • Fund for students looking to start careers in aviation

  • All students joining Leading Edge Aviation's Spring LEAP courses are eligible

Leading Edge Aviation (LEAL) have launched a Spring bursary fund of £150,000, offering future students the opportunity to save £5,000 each from their training fees. The fund is aimed at students looking to begin their journey to the flight deck and will offer many future students a significant boost. There will not be any additional selection criteria, meaning all students joining their Spring LEAP courses will be eligible.

The bursary, which can be used in addition to student finance (subject to eligibility), means many students will be able to access LEAL’s premium integrated course LEAP, for as little as £76,000 (or £80,500 for dual UK CAA and EASA licenses). In addition to this, all LEAP students passing their Skills Assessment application process receive a substantial Training Guarantee. The Training Guarantee means that if any remedial training is required, in the Ground School or Flight Training phases, there are no additional costs (including accommodation).

The timing of their bursary fund comes as many airlines are increasing their recruitment drives for pilots at all levels, further evidence of recovery in aviation following the pandemic.

Chief Talent Officer Katie Broadhurst comments “We wanted to present a scheme that helps as many students as possible at a time when we are all recovering from the impact of the pandemic. Our mission is to provide accessible, inspirational and innovative aviation training and whilst we inspire and innovate every day, accessibility is also very important to us.”

This announcement follows recent news of LEAL’s growing airline relationships and Wizz Air’s recent visit to the academy with further relationships due to be announced very soon.
