Aviation publisher Padpilot has launched a Book Bursary to celebrate World Pilots' Day. The bursary initiative offers five complete sets of Padpilot ATPL(A) theory books on Padpilot’s new eReader content platform.

The aim is to assist five aspiring pilots on their way to achieving commercial qualification. Recipients will each receive three years of access to one full set of ATPL(A) interactive theory books, worth £463.84.

Each ATPL(A) book set contains 17 ebooks, designed to cover the regulatory syllabus and enable student pilots to gain the knowledge and understanding needed for success in the ATPL exams and equip them for a future airline career.

Padpilot books are fully compliant with the CAA and EASA syllabus learning objectives and contain interactive elements, case studies and operational examples written by airline pilot authors. These additional features help students assimilate the large volume of knowledge required for the exams, improve memory retention and prepare students for commercial flying training.

Until recently, Padpilot has been synonymous with Apple devices. The UK-based publishers were the first to create iPad manuals in 2011, and downloads of their interactive iBooks have since reached more than 300,000. Last month the company announced its multi-device eReader, a new platform for theoretical knowledge content, accessible on any device and from any country.

The content and layout of the new Padpilot eReader books mirrors the Apple Book editions, but with the addition of two new features: reading time is now recorded automatically, and on-page stylus annotations are enabled.

Each Padpilot ATPL(A) Book Bursary includes the following ebooks: Maths and Physics for Pilots; Air Law; Aircraft General Knowledge: Electrics; Aircraft General Knowledge: Engines; Aircraft General Knowledge: Airframes and Systems; Basic Instrumentation; Advanced Instrumentation; Mass and Balance; Flight Planning and Monitoring; Human Performance and Limitations; Meteorology; General Navigation; Radio Navigation; Operational Procedures; Principles of Flight; Communications (IFR and VFR); and Aeroplane Performance.

“ATPL ground school can be demanding, but building a really solid foundation of knowledge and understanding is essential for every aviator,” said Graham Cownie, CEO at Padpilot.
