Training For Aviation's Next Era

The 21st Europe Airline Training Symposium

8-9 November 2023 • Estoril Congress Centre, Cascais, Portugal

Back in 2013, ICAO introduced the concept of EBT as a game-changer in pilot training.

It was envisioned to shift training from traditional compliance-based methods to a competency and data-driven approach. The ultimate goal was to enhance pilot training by analysing data, identifying vulnerabilities, and tailoring training to address specific airline issues.

But where are we a decade on?

Michael Varney, CEO of Salient, is regarded as a global specialist in EBT and will be on hand to answer that question and many more during his presentation at  EATS 2023, Live in Cascais.

Mike will provide insights into what the early adopters of EBT expected and what they actually achieved. You'll gain a deep understanding of how EBT has evolved over the years, driven by the development of best practices. EBT implementation typically aligns with ICAO generation-specific programs, but how do we adapt training to focus on individual airline challenges?

EATS 2023 Pilot Conference

Wednesday 8th November

1415-1545  Session 3 10 Years On – Defining Success in Evidence-Based Training

Michael Varney, CEO, Salient.

Discover how data is collected, processed, and leveraged to develop effective learning experiences that address vulnerabilities seen in day-to-day operations and pilot competencies.

Through engaging case studies, you'll explore implementation challenges, roadblocks, early results, and the maturation of EBT programs, ultimately leading to quantifiable success for both individuals and airlines.

Mike Varney will demonstrate that success in EBT is ultimately measured in improved safety performance. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the importance of competency and evidence-based approaches, emphasising the need for a holistic approach to pilot training. This involves maximising relevance, realism, competent instructors, and the skill to measure results accurately, all contributing to the growth and maturation of the EBT concept.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain a decade's worth of wisdom and knowledge in EBT.
