The leading Indian carrier, IndiGo has extended its service agreement with CAE for its Cadet Pilot Programme and also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CAE Simulation Training Private Limited (CSTPL) to provide Flight Crew Training for its fleet of ATR aircraft. The announcements were made at the ongoing Wings 2024 civil aviation airshow underway in India.

CSTPL will provide exclusive simulator access to IndiGo’s ATR pilots for its ATR pilot training program and the former will install a Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for ATR aircraft in Bengaluru, Karnataka. IndiGo is slated to commence training on the new ATR FFS by February 2024.

IndiGo operates a total of 44 ATR 72-600 Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) with the 45th due to be inducted shortly.

The Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) has been operating the type since 2017.

IndiGo will expand its partnership with CAE to meet the needs of future Junior First Officer (JFO) requirements and contribute to the carrier’s strategic expansion plans.

IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme cadets are trained at CAE’s state-of-the-art training facility in Gondia, Maharashtra, which is a fully equipped Flight Training Organization equipped with modern glass cockpit and Diamond training aircraft. IndiGo’s cadet pilots have also been trained at CAE international locations such as Phoenix, Arizona in the US, and Melbourne, and Tamworth in Australia.

The training partnership with CAE got underway in 2011 and IndiGo had inducted close to 941 cadets as JFOs from this program through December 2023.
