To address affordability and diversity in aviation, New Vision Aviation's president, Joseph Oldham, secured a grant for four e-planes.

This move, aimed at making pilot careers accessible to low-income communities, led to the FAA granting clearance for electric planes in training, making New Vision Aviation the first school in the nation to do so, according to GV Wire. Despite challenges, Oldham's efforts spanned nearly five years to gain FAA approval for electric planes in mandatory training hours.
