The National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) has opened registration for its annual training and networking event, NAFI Summit, which will take place on the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) campus in Daytona Beach, Florida, from 15-17 October. Those interested can register for the Summit at nafisummit.org.

With more than 200 flight training professionals attending, and 19 exhibitors, the first NAFI Summit in October 2023 set the stage for the conference to truly promote “Excellence in Flight Instruction”—and the association is ready to take it to the next level. After just one year, the Summit is poised to become the critical connection and education opportunity for instructors and leaders in the aviation training industry.

While the 2023 Summit featured 36 presenters, NAFI announced it is on track to match—or exceed—the variety and quality of educational and enlightening sessions. Paul Preidecker, president of the association, said, “Content matters. Last year, we brought relevant presentations and discussions delivered by industry experts and leaders. This year’s program will blend safety and professionalism across three main themes: training the trainer, mentorship and peer support, and pilot well-being.”

To demonstrate this, NAFI has already confirmed its keynote speakers: Dr. Susan Northrup, Federal Air Surgeon for the FAA, and Bruce Landsberg, AOPA Senior Safety Advisor, and Vice Chairman, NTSB (retired). The Summit also hosts the return of the popular Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) panel—and adds a forum on Pilot Mental Health and Well-Being.

For the gala dinner capping the event, John and Martha King, legendary aviation educators and business owners, will reprise their appearance at last year’s Summit.

NAFI recently obtained its 501(c)(3) approval, making all contributions tax deductible, depending on the person’s tax status. A site linked to the NAFI Annual Fund can be found here.

“Register now to be part of the success of NAFI Summit—and be sure to encourage your friends and colleagues to attend,” said Preidecker.
