The deadline for the GlobalAir.com Calvin L. Carrithers Aviation Scholarship, which provides four students $1,000 each towards their aviation training, is nearing its application deadline for the coming academic year. Applicants have until 15 August to submit their entries.
In all, 38 aviation students have been awarded the scholarship as it enters its 10th year.
Applications must include a short essay and applicants have the option to include a letter of recommendation. This essay should detail the applicant’s interest in aviation, future career path and how they intend to complete their aviation program.
“Tomorrow’s aviators will face plenty of challenges and changes during their careers,” said GlobalAir.com President and CEO Jeffrey Carrithers. “We just want to do our part to help provide world of flight with its next generation of caretakers and innovators.”
Recipients will also have the opportunity to grow their business network through social media and contribute to the GlobalAir.com aviation news section. Students, if they choose, can work closely with the company’s editorial team to hone their writing skills, learn reporting techniques and enhance their personal brand through the company’s social media platforms.
This past year's winners were Jadyn Miller-Klein, an Aeronautical Science major at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Reagan Shaar, a Professional Flight Technology and Chinese Language Studies student at Purdue University; Gracie McShea, an Aeronautics major at Kent State University; and Maddie Moles, also a student at Embry-Riddle. It was the first time that all four recipients were female students.
The scholarship committee is encouraging qualified and passionate aviation students to apply before the 15 August deadline. Scholarship winners will be notified no later than 30 August of their selection and acceptance into the program.
