Egnatia Aviation has just concluded a summer internship program in collaboration with AMITY University Dubai, where two aerospace engineering students, Dana and Armaan, gained valuable hands-on experience in the aviation industry. The three-week program provided an immersive look into Egnatia Aviation’s operations, based at the Lydia Airport.
Throughout their internship, Dana and Armaan were introduced to various aspects of Egnatia Aviation’s operations, with a primary focus on the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO). They participated in aircraft inspections, data analysis projects, and technical troubleshooting alongside the maintenance team. The program provided a comprehensive overview of aviation maintenance, safety protocols, and operational efficiency.
Key internship highlights include:
Aircraft Inspections: Learning to identify and document signs of wear and damage on aircraft components.
Data Analysis: Contributing to projects that examined flight performance metrics to enhance safety protocols.
Technical Troubleshooting: Assisting the maintenance team in resolving real-world technical issues.
Exclusive Access to Training and Simulator Sessions
Dana and Armaan were given the opportunity to observe a simulator session and a training flight in Egnatia Aviation’s DA-40NG aircraft. They also gained insights into air traffic operations through a visit to the Air Traffic Radio Operators at Lydia Airport. Additionally, the interns participated in a training session with the Safety Manager and Rescue and Fire Fighting Services personnel to deepen their understanding of aerodrome operations.
As part of their internship, Dana and Armaan, accompanied by their professor, Dr. Efstratios Ntantis, visited the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) and the Hellenic Air Force's 116 Combat Wing. They explored aerostructures, jet engines, and avionics maintenance, gaining valuable insights into military aircraft systems and operational procedures.
Educational tour highlights include:
Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI): A tour of the Aerostructures Section, Training Center, and Paint Shop for F-16 Fighting Falcon, C130 Hercules, and P3 Orion aircraft.
Araxos Air Force Base: Observing maintenance procedures on F-16 C/D Block 52+ Advanced fighter jets, focusing on key systems such as jet engines and avionics.
