For the second consecutive year, Cascais has hosted the European Airline Training Symposium (EATS), the world’s largest aviation training event. Taking place from 5-7 November, the Estoril Congress Centre has welcomed over 1,200 participants from 60 countries, with prominent aviation industry companies such as AIRBUS, BOEING, CAE, LUFTHANSA, L3HARRIS, and the Portuguese TAP AIR PORTUGAL in attendance.

"We are hosting this event at a time when we are transforming the Tires Aerodrome to also serve as a university training aerodrome," said Carlos Carreiras, President of the Cascais City Council. "Cascais is establishing itself in the field of aviation training and aerospace, with the addition of a hub from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Nova University of Lisbon at the Tires Aerodrome," he added.

On 6 November, part of the activities for this second edition of EATS began, featuring an innovative program that brings new perspectives and insights into the future of aviation training. Industry leaders, specialists, and professionals are present at various conferences addressing topics such as the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in aviation training, the development of instructors, and new training methods aimed at improving safety and operational efficiency.

“Aviation safety is a fundamental pillar for the regulator and for all of us working in the sector, and training is the foundation of that safety. Discussing such a relevant topic and solutions that ensure training addresses the challenges aviation faces today is absolutely essential,” said Ana Vieira da Mata, President of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), and one of the speakers at the event.

EATS 2024 aims to foster the exchange of experiences among aviation training professionals, contributing to the adaptation of training practices to the current requirements of the sector.
