As my colleagues Penny McGrigor and Chloe Wyeth have so well documented in the last 24 hours on these pages, the setup of the EATS 2024 conference floor remains a work in progress.

The author had the opportunity to dodge inbound shipping containers, work crews readying their booths and other activities to gain insights from several exhibiting teams on their planned activities the next several days. This partial “quick look” should provide several “teasers” to encourage delegates to traverse the EATS exhibition floor this Wednesday and Thursday and engage with conference exhibitors.

JVCKenwood Corporation (Booth 620) was setting up a portable viewing space to highlight and preview a new 4K native projector that will be released in 2025 and is expected to find favor with the commercial aviation training sector.

An unnamed company in the XR space asked the author to ponder a development overnight, along the line of how a heretofore untapped capability will be integrated into their new VR product to better support a specific training audience. More tomorrow on Day 1.

Three training aircraft suppliers Cirrus (Booth 216), Diamond Aircraft (Booth 733) and Elixir Aircraft (Booth 914) will discuss the latest developments in this very competitive market. I look forward to learning of their current and near-term activities and some differentiators between their portfolios.

Frank van de Laar, Commercial Director, Aviatify, (Booth 230) promised to supply an update on the activities of Aviassist. The

organization is a non-profit organization aimed at providing affordable, world-class safety promotion and reinvest all revenue back into African aviation safety. Aviassist has a number of commercial aviation community sponsors and supporters.

And yes, exhibitors will be discussing the latest technology enablers. A glance at booth signage that was in place early afternoon showed “CBTA/EBT” highlighted at five booths and “XR” and at another five. While “AI” was not explicitly posted on booth signage, not to worry. Rick Adams will sign his book, AI in Aviation Training on Days 1 and 2.

About 17 suppliers of FFSs, increasingly capable FTDs, door trainers and even a fire suppression system will be present.

Beyond hardware content, 16 S&T companies in software-focused niches will be on site.

And no fewer than 12 flight schools are available to speak with aspiring pilots about training opportunities.
