AXIS Flight Simulation has successfully qualified its Level-D Bombardier Challenger CL350 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for Aviation Academy Austria. The qualification marks AXIS Flight Simulation’s first Level-D CL350 FFS and will be the first of its kind to operate in mainland Europe.

The FFS is equipped with a Van Halteren motion system and RSi XT6 visual system, with a 200x45 field of view (FOV), as well as the Collins Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics system. Optional features include Controller–Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), a Synthetic Vision Systems (SVS) and steep approach capability.

Achieving Level-D certification involved comprehensive flight testing conducted in collaboration with Aeroset, during which flight data was gathered to ensure the high standards of simulation accuracy.

“We plan to add an auto-throttle to enable the academy’s pilots to practice flying the new Bombardier Challenger 3500 aircraft, while using our CL350 FFS,” said Christian Theuermann, member of the executive board, AXIS Flight Simulation.

Michael Holy, managing director, Aviation Academy Austria, says, “Our instructors all have practical experience on the aircraft type and can create real-life training scenarios which, thanks to the simulator’s numerous functions and high degree of realism, will set new standards in Challenger CL350 pilot training.”

Aviation Academy Austria’s newly qualified Level D CL350 simulator is now available for training and dry lease, extending flight training capabilities near Vienna, Austria.
