Online pilot training provider AV8 Prep has started a new youth aviation training scholarship for any current high school student that wants to become a pilot. The scholarship gives eligible students the opportunity to get free access to AV8 Prep’s Private Pilot Ground School.
The students have to create a social post, tag AV8 Prep, and get three shares to qualify for access to the private pilot course, which is a $399 value.
John Ellis, AV8 Prep’s Chief of Development, said, “We are proud to give back, and we want to share our love of aviation with the next generation. If you know a high school student that wants to become a pilot, have them visit our site to see how they can start their training for free. High school is a pivotal time to recruit future pilots, and we want to grow the pilot population.”
The Private Pilot Ground School includes the Private Pilot Diary, a 26-episode docuseries that follows a candidate from Discovery Flight to checkride prep on all of her flight lessons. “Jordan used the AV8 Prep ground school and completed her flight training with 43 hours of flight time, an amazing feat in this day and age,” said Ellis.
The package also includes Tower Talk, a course in radio communications taught by a 33-year air traffic controller who is also a CFI. Also included is a separate course on the FARs, a course of practice exams, and AV8 Prep’s new Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge (PHAK) visual audiobook course.
AV8 Prep also offers Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, and Fundamentals of Instructing ground schools as well. Details and the scholarship application can be found on AV8’s website.
