The Airline Pilot Club (APC) has launched Amelia, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform aimed at enhancing aviation recruitment and training processes. Unveiled at EATS 2024, Amelia is designed to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs for airlines and flight schools by incorporating advanced AI technology into their systems.

Amelia supports Evidence-Based Training (EBT) and Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA), enabling instructors and organizations to implement best practices established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA). The platform provides a comprehensive solution that addresses all aspects of pilot recruitment, training, and career progression.

With Amelia, the recruitment process is streamlined through AI-powered automation that profiles candidates based on behavioral and competency assessments. This data-driven approach aims to ensure that airlines select the most suitable pilots while reducing recruitment time and costs by up to 30%. In addition, Amelia utilizes predictive analytics and machine learning to create personalized training paths, potentially decreasing the time to operational readiness by up to 25%. This enables airlines to deliver capable pilots more efficiently.

Amelia also continuously monitors pilot performance, providing real-time feedback that allows for tailored adjustments in training programs. The platform generates detailed In-Training and End-of-Training reports for competency mapping, which may help reduce the need for remedial training and improve safety outcomes. Furthermore, it facilitates instructor-led training by suggesting relevant questions for briefings and debriefings, which aids in identifying learning challenges effectively.

Training departments can leverage Amelia’s comprehensive data analytics to refine their programs and ensure alignment with operational goals and industry standards. This includes the ability to analyze instructor performance.

“Amelia is much more than a training tool—it’s a complete AI-driven solution that addresses the entire lifecycle of pilot employment, from recruitment to operational readiness,” said Andy O'Shea, CEO,  Airline Pilot Club. “We are not just helping airlines and flight schools meet regulatory requirements—we are enabling them to go beyond, training pilots who are capable of excelling in their careers. Amelia helps redefine what it means to be airline ready.”

APC invites attendees of the European Airline Training Symposium (EATS) 2024 to visit booth #806 for a live demonstration of Amelia. Additionally, Andy O'Shea, the CEO of APC, and Cedric Paillard, COO of APC, will participate in key speaking sessions during the symposium to discuss the platform's capabilities.  Watch their presentation , Enhancing Pilot Competency & Performance Through AI-Driven Continuous Assessment & CRD during the ATO Conference on 6 November, Session 3, or on 7 November during the Pilot Conference, Session 5.
