Boeing's newly appointed President and CEO, Robert K. "Kelly" Ortberg, addressed employees today, emphasizing his commitment to restoring trust and guiding Boeing toward continued industry leadership. Ortberg, who officially took on his role on 8 August 2024, succeeds Dave Calhoun and brings over 35 years of aerospace experience to the position.

In his first message to Boeing employees, Ortberg emphasized the importance of meeting commitments and restoring trust across the company’s diverse operations, from building high-quality commercial aircraft to delivering defense and space products. He stressed the need for close collaboration within the company and announced plans to base himself in Seattle, where he will engage directly with production teams and address challenges on the factory floor. He will work closely with the commercial airplane programs, starting with a visit to the Renton factory floor to engage directly with employees.

Ortberg acknowledged the strong support from customers and industry partners who are invested in Boeing's success, stating, "Everyone wants us to succeed. In many cases, they need us to succeed." He expressed his commitment to transparency and frequent communication, promising regular updates as Boeing navigates its challenges and opportunities.

Ortberg, 64, began his aerospace career in 1983 and held key leadership roles at Rockwell Collins, where he served as President and CEO before overseeing its integration with United Technologies and RTX. Now at Boeing, Ortberg expressed his excitement to work alongside the company’s 170,000 employees to meet the challenges ahead.

“I’m honored to join this iconic company, and I’m looking forward to working together to make us all proud to be a part of Boeing,” Ortberg said.
