The Honorable Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiated the commissioning of new Full Flight Simulators at Fiji Airways, celebrating a significant milestone for the airline and the nation.

During the event, attended by Deputy Prime Ministers, aviation leaders, and distinguished guests, Prime Minister Rabuka emphasized the importance of this state-of-the-art facility in enhancing the airline's training capabilities. "The commissioning of these new simulators is not just a significant achievement for Fiji Airways, but a momentous occasion for our nation," he stated.

The investment of approximately FJ$160 million in the training facility highlights Fiji Airways' commitment to technological advancement and the development of local talent, particularly for women in the aviation sector. "By providing world-class training locally, Fiji Airways is empowering Fijians to pursue aviation careers without the need to travel overseas," the Prime Minister remarked.

The new facility aims to establish Fiji as a regional hub for aviation training, attracting trainees from across the Pacific and beyond. Prime Minister Rabuka noted that this advancement will bolster tourism, a vital pillar of the economy, enhancing the travel experience for visitors and generating greater revenue for the nation.

The Prime Minister also commended Fiji Airways for its commitment to environmental stewardship, highlighting the airline's proactive measures to reduce its carbon footprint and its pledge to plant one mangrove for every takeoff. "These initiatives contribute to preserving our coastal ecosystems and align with our government’s vision for sustainable development," he stated.

In closing, Prime Minister Rabuka congratulated Fiji Airways on its vision and leadership in establishing the new facility, which he believes will create numerous job opportunities and foster economic growth for the people of Fiji. "Let us continue to work together to build a brighter future for Fiji, where opportunities are abundant and our people can thrive," he concluded.
