Southwest Airlines’ CFO Tammy Romo will retire on 1 April after over three decades with the airline. Romo, who joined in 1991 and became CFO in 2012, leaves as Southwest works on a turnaround strategy.
The airline has struggled post-pandemic, with increased competition offering premium services. Southwest recently unveiled plans to offer assigned seating and extra legroom, marking a shift from its budget model. The airline also reached a settlement with activist investor Elliott Investment Management, adding board seats. Romo’s departure coincides with the retirement of Chief Administration Officer Linda Rutherford. Southwest will begin searching for Romo’s successor.
