The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) recently announced the graduation with wings of the first nine aviators to complete all their initial training on Australia’s East coast and become fully qualified pilots. Course No. 275 graduated from the inaugural course at RAAF Base East Sale.
“The graduation of our first intermediate pilots course is the culmination of months and years of determination and hard work for the students graduating and staff,” Commanding Officer 1FTS, Wing Commander Benjamin Sawley.
A Defence release stated that the RAAF will be able to graduate more fully qualified pilots this year with intermediate pilot training now being held on Australia’s East and West coasts.
Course No. 278 is now underway, with the intermediate pilots course set to graduate from RAAF Base East Sale this December.
The West Sale Airport runway was upgraded in 2016, enabling a new capability for RAAF Base East Sale and the RAAF’s pilot training system.
