The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Orlando has awarded Ravenswood Solutions a $39.9-million sole source contract for the production of two brigade-sized FlexTrain instrumentation systems and a five-year license to use Ravenswood’s associated ORION software.

FlexTrain is a rapidly deployable, Global PositioningSystem-based instrumentation solution that tracks vehicles, units andindividual participants during training exercises or testing events.  Ravenswood will provide the U.S. ArmyNational Guard with additional individual trackers for personnel and vehicles,along with the network hardware required to operate the system in areas aslarge as 80-by-80 kilometers.  Deliveryof these systems will bring the total inventory under Ravenswood management toover 20,000 player units.

The Army National Guard will employ the ORION softwareduring the next five years of annual eXportable Combat Training Capability exercisesnationwide.  ORION, the state-of-the-artsoftware heart of FlexTrain, aggregates data from multiple live, virtual andconstructive sources in a common operating picture for after action review byexercise leaders.
