AVT Simulation in Orlando, Florida, recently completed its Apache AH-64E Version 4.0 Government Acceptance Testing (GAT) event. Stakeholders from PEO STRI, Fort Rucker Directorate of Simulation (DoS), PM Apache, and platform-specific Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) convened for one week to execute test procedures and validate if the implemented features met the delivery order requirements.
The Increment Two upgrades include the addition of a Link 16network, which added J-Voice and a Link 16 Tactical Data Link, into theAviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) simulation. Additionally, theModernized Target Acquisition and Designation Sight (M-TADS) was upgraded witha new Image Auto Tracker, Geostabilization, and Color DTV. The AircraftSurvivability Equipment (ASE) updates provide geolocated threat locations andASE messaging. The updated Fire Control Radar (FCR) includes the latest featuressuch as Single Target Tracking, Non-Target Designations, and increased FOV. Theimplemented upgrades bring the AVCATT into concurrency with aircraft currentlyon the flight line. Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) andManned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) were implemented and accepted on a previoussoftware baseline.
“As this Delivery Order comes to a successful close, I’dlike to extend our sincere gratitude to the talented group of DoS SMEs fortheir time and invaluable contributions during numerous testing events, and tothe PEO STRI team, who worked alongside us supporting every step of the way.The importance of these upgrades cannot be understated. Once fielded throughoutAVCATT, they will help bridge the inherent training gap created as Armytraining transitions to STE,” said AVCATT program manager Roger Torres.
