Held annually, IT²EC is the international forum for military, civil sector, industry and academic representatives from around the globe to share and promote simulation, training and education knowledge. IT²EC 2020 will take place 28-30 April 2020 at ExCeL, London.

Previously known as ITEC, the re-brand intoIT²EC for 2020 reflects the show’s contemporary focus on technology, with theconference now titled the “International Training Technology Exhibition and Conference”.IT²EC 2020 will reflect this shift onto technology with an overarching topical conferencetheme of “the Digital Twin Age”.

The three-day conference will be organisedinto three concurrent streams: “Technologies and Architectures”, which will includepresentations on technical developments allowing the advancement ofcollaborative and innovative processes; “Human Factors and Performance in aDigital Twin Age”, which will cover issues including human modelling andavatars, the Digital Twin user experience and human-data and human-sensorinteractions; and the final theme “Emerging Solutions: Propelling Today’sAdvances into the Digital Twin Age”, to include papers on advances inlarge-scale collaboration and training, cyber and physical security trainingand education, and simulation for denied or contested environments.

Taking on the position of committee chairfor 2020 is Rusmat Ahmed of Bohemia InteractiveSimulations. Ahmed has been SVP Sales, EMEA for Bohemia Interactive Simulationssince 2014, leading all sales and business development activities in Europe,the Middle East and Africa. He has a wealth of business experience in defence,particularly around projects for armies and air forces, and in both civil andmilitary training and simulation.

Ahmed said, “Content submissions so farpoint to an exceptionally interesting and useful conference for training andsimulation professionals. With the explosion of AI (artificial intelligence)and Big Data in the everyday world around us, Digital Twins (one of this year'sthemes) are already finding their way into important areas of defence trainingand simulation.

“Welcoming new committee members addsfurther to the breadth and wealth of experience of the Committee, helping tokeep the conference fresh and topical.”

New faces on the IT²EC committee for 2020include: Steve Wilkinson, Chief Executive Officer of the European Training andSimulation Association (ETSA); Sanjay Khetia, Director of Strategic Alliancesand Director, UK for PLEXSYS Interface Products; David Elsey, BusinessDevelopment Manager – Training Services, and Ian Crews, Training Solutions LeadEngineer, both from BAE Systems. They join a well-established group of industryexperts from every part of the military training technology value chain.
