Recruiters will remain accessible to those interested in acareer with the U.S. Army, but they will communicate through text, phone calls, direct messages or video chat rather than face-to-face.

“We are very confident in our ability to operate in thevirtual space, as it has become a primary method of talking to potential soldiersin recent years,” said Maj. Gen. Frank Muth, USAREC commanding general. “Whileface-to-face discussions are valuable when discussing options to serve in theU.S. Army, we are able to work around that, if necessary. Right now, I thinkthat is necessary for the health and safety of our force and those around them.”

The U.S. Army is actively shipping future soldiers to BasicCombat Training at this time. Recruiters will have limited in-person contactwith their future soldiers who are preparing to ship to training bases. All futuresoldiers are being prescreened for symptoms and potential exposure to COVID-19prior to departing for basic training.

Future soldiers who are in areas considered at high risk forexposure to the virus are being rescheduled and will work with their localrecruiters on a new timeline for shipment to training.

Army leaders have implemented force protection measuresacross all U.S. Army training centers to reduce the potential spread ofCOVID-19. U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command is dedicated to meetingcritical mission requirements while safeguarding the health and wellness ofrecruiters, recruits, cadre and their families.
