The first Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) occupational qualification assessment course of the Chinese PLA recently got underway at the Ordnance Sergeant School of PLA Army Engineering University. The pilot programme for occupational qualification training and certification on UAV operations was conducted by Chinese PLA personnel and industry experts.

“Combined with actual combat characteristics, the pilot programme clarifies the requirements of flight control, equipment maintenance and other professional skills. They take full advantages of the educational resources of military institutions and draw on the advanced training pattern from the industrial agencies,” Zheng Xing, a Department Head of the Ordnance Sergeant School, said.

The PLA is attaching great importance to UAV operations and recently conducted tests on a fixed-wing drone swarm system, performed by China Academy of Electronics and Information Technology, which comes under the state-owned China Electronics Technology Group Corporation.
