The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), will be all virtual this year. This year’s virtual event titled vIITSEC, is scheduled from 30 November to 4 December.
All the military services are struggling to keep up with the accelerating pace of breakthrough technologies such as quantum, machine learning, AI, and XR. The extent and rate at which the military can effectively incorporate these and other dramatic breakthroughs into its training regimes will determine how effectively peer adversaries can be confronted. Top tier authorities will explore these and other pressing issues in a week-long schedule of virtual special events, panels and other discussions of the future of the fast-moving world of modeling and simulation (M&S).
Dozens of corporations from around the world will populate a virtual and interactive Exhibit Hall. Participants will have the opportunity to meet virtually with authors of over 130 technical papers and tutorials, as well as key thought leaders from military, government, academic and research organizations, and industry throughout the week. International participation at vIITSEC will also be robust this year, with a number of events focusing on allied and coalition partner training and cooperation. Enhancement of STEM studies at all levels is critical to the future of the M&S industry and community. vIITSEC will feature a STEM component, including a student leadership program, a scholarship program, and a career fair.
Although I/ITSEC has been forced by circumstances into an all-virtual format for 2020, this year's event promises to be as critical to an understanding of the current state and future of synthetic training as any of its predecessors.
“It is clear to me that warfighters are not getting a year off, so neither could the I/ITSEC mission,” said RADM James Robb, NTSA’s president.
“We’re especially excited that an online format will provide a rich environment for the I/ITSEC community to network, present research, provide professional education and development opportunities, discuss requirements, and demonstrate cutting-edge concepts and technologies,” Robb said. “It is also a unique opportunity for new participants here in the U.S. and from around the world.”
