Concerns over possible confusion of company ownership – and potential Chinese meddling in software developed for Western military customers – has led Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) to issue a clarifying press release.

A Czechia commercial game developer, Bohemia Interactive, which once owned what is now BISim, recently announced that Tencent Holdings agreed to acquire a minority stake in the company. Tencent is a Chinese internet services conglomerate offering social networks (WeChat), music, web portals, e-commerce, mobile games, payment systems, smartphones, and multiplayer online games.

BISim is owned by New York-based private equity firm The Riverside Company and has been a completely separate company from Bohemia Interactive for several years.

What did Halldale find out during their recent interview with BISim? Check it out in  “So Much Opportunity” in the Military Space.

"Bohemia Interactive is not and has not been an active participant in BISim’s business for many years,” said BISim CEO Arthur Alexion. “BISim has been a completely separate business from Bohemia Interactive since Riverside acquired BISim in 2013. We have no commercial links or ongoing business relationship with Bohemia Interactive."

Founded in 2001, BISim is a global software company at the forefront of simulation and training solutions for defense and civilian organizations. BISim utilizes the latest game-based technology and a 200-strong, in-house team of engineers to develop high-fidelity, cost-effective training and simulation software products and components for defense applications.

BiSim’s VBS products have become the world’s most widely used COTS product range in the military simulation sector, supporting hundreds of military use cases.

Globally, hundreds of thousands of military personnel are trained every year using VBS software products. More than 60 NATO and NATO-friendly countries and over 300 integrators/prime contractors use VBS technology, many making significant funding commitments to extend VBS product capabilities. Customers include the US Army, US Marine Corps, Australian Defence Force, Swedish Armed Forces, French MoD and UK MoD and most major integrators.
