The annual Exercise Desert Flag hosted by the United Arab Emirates Air as a multi-national large force warfare exercise is now underway in its 6th edition.
Exercise Desert Flag VI is being held from 3rd March to 27th March at Al-Dhafra airbase, UAE. Along with the air forces from UAE, USA, France, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Bahrain, the exercise is witnessing the maiden participation of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The seven participating air forces will undertake simulated air combat training in a controlled environment, provide valuable large force training and operational exposure.
The IAF contingent comprises of six SU-30 MKIs, two C-17 Globemaster IIIs and a single IL-78 mid-air refueling aircraft. The IAF’s SU-30 MKIs arrived at at Al-Dhafra airbase, direct from their base in India aerial refueling support from the accompanying IL-78.
