Dr. Ming Qian has joined the Soar Technology Inc. (SoarTech) team as a senior scientist. He has over 20 years of experience in human-computer interaction and artificial intelligence, making him a great addition to the scientific team. He most recently worked with Barnstorm Research in Boston as a principal member of the research team and was employed with Lenova Research prior to that as a senior researcher. Dr. Qian has served as a board member of several technical conferences and holds 47 U.S./International patents.
“As both a Scientist and Engineer, Ming brings to SoarTech an exceptionally deep technical background, along with a rich experience developing and applying Artificial Intelligence for the Department of Defense,” said Dylan Schmorrow, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer. “I look forward to watching him draw upon his Machine and Deep Learning, signal processing and Human-Computer Interaction background to expand SoarTech’s technical capabilities in service of U.S. National Security.”
Dr. Qian received his bachelor’s degree at Carrol College in Helena, Montana, graduating from the Department of Math, Engineering, and Computer Science, and then went on to receive his master’s degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He then completed his Doctorate at Duke University in electrical and computer engineering.
Dr. Qian also holds his PMP and is a certified Project Management Professional.
